Welcome to the website of the General Surgery and Gastroenterology department here at the Heart of England NHS Trust. Responsible for the provision of our sub-specialities across the Trust's four hospitals - Heartlands, Solihull, Good Hope and the Birmingham Chest Clinic - the general surgery staff are highly qualified, dedicated professionals with long experience in their respective fields.

The services and surgeries we provide are many and varied, including everything from cancer surgery to bariatrics. We work closely with GP practices to ensure excellent care for all patients who can clearly benefit from it. In this way we hope to provide services to primary care practitioners from both within our Trust area and beyond it, helping GPs to find the right type, level and degree of care for their patients.

Bariatrics Service
Our bariatrics service continues to develop and deepen, providing high quality surgical solutions to the increasing problems of obesity and weight gain. Our facilities and staff are highly specialised and offer real expertise and a range of options within the Upper GI Bariatrics field.

Minor OPs Service
The minor ops service is only carried out on the Heartlands Hospital site. The service selection is for lumps and bumps surgery. For booking and further details please telephone 0121 424 4383 between the hours of 1.00pm - 4.30pm, Monday - Friday.
